It was a fabulous experience!

When it comes to a travel agency putting together my package, I only want the best deals. The last few blogs have been about the best deals to watch the Formula One race in Singapore. I thought it best to put up a video testimonial of someone who was at the race last year.

The video talks about his experience with Travel Tours and the great job that they did and what a thrilling experience it is to be in Singapore for the f1 season!

So I delivered as promised. I guess it would be best that you watch this space for more action on F1 Singapore 2009.

India on the F1 map

Fisichella

Fisichella

It all began with pole position on Saturday. Little did anyone expect Saturday’s results let alone Sunday’s! With Fisichella winning pole position on Saturday, it was still not obvious that he would deliver on Sunday. But what a race!

The first couple of minutes at Spa were just a preview to the action that was to follow. With Romain Grosjean coming in the way of Button’s race and with Hamilton and Jaime Alguersuari bearing the consequences of the crash, the race was all about the action right from the start.

Force India, for 2 years now had placed itself at the tail end of every standing. As if to say ‘enough is enough’ Fisichella put on a show that is bound to go down in history.

If you ask me, Fisichella had a real chance to stand on the podium. Raikonnen’s comfort with the Belgian circuit and KERS put him at an undeniable advantage. As for Fisichella’s win, Force India proved a lot of people wrong on Sunday and I have a feeling this is just the beginning!

For the Ferrari fans, it was just wonderful to see the red car up ahead for the first time this season.

2009 definitely has been a season of so many things unexpected. I can only imagine what the last couple of races have in store. As always I am still excited about what Singapore is going to unfold!

Fisichella wins Force India’s first Pole Position of the season!

Force India

In a remarkable turn of events, Fisichella pulls the tri-coloured car to pole position today! When stalwarts like Hamilton and Alonso not even on the starting grid tomorrow’s race in Spa is going to be uber exciting! Jarno Trulli was second for Toyota, from BMW Sauber’s Nick Heidfeld and Brawn GP’s Rubens Barrichello. The Red Bulls of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber will start eighth and ninth.

With a lot of rather well-humoured jokes about Force India and its propensity to lead from the back. This is a happy surprise! Clocking speeds of 1:46:308 he got to the top by a difference of 87 secs! This is a surprise as McLaren’s Hamilton was at his speedy best in the afternoon with the weather being warm and pleasant.

While there have been races where the pole hasn’t guaranteed the podium, it will still be exciting to see India up in front. I can only imagine the pressure the team is under to perform.

Tomorrow I’m going to be glued to the screen! You?

The BEST deal by far!

In my previous blog on the deals available for the Singapore Formula 1 race, I put down a couple of package options. But guess what, the packages just got better.

With it almost being time for the race, I expected the rates of packages to sky rocket. Surprisingly Travel Tours has come out with 2 new packages that are way more reasonable. Yes, that’s what I said, Travel tours has brought down the prices!

So now with the revised package of Rs.46,660* you get your air tickets, your stay and your F1 tickets! I already thought Travel Tours had the best deals but now they’re even better! The other package they’re offering is Rs.48,000.

The other package that comes closest is the package Mercury is offering. They’re package is Rs.47,000 but it EXCLUDES your airfare! For a complete F1 package to Singapore, Rs.46,000* seems just right to me. Let me know what you think.

Close enough to touch – almost!

F1 Singapore

F1 Singapore

I played some psychology games with myself (I do that sometimes, just to check my sanity levels). This time I played free-association. You know, you think of a word and immediately associative things pop-up. So this time I thought of F1 Singapore – predictable night race, street race, hose pipe (thanks to Massa) and also so close!

Now, when I thought about it I realised, close not just in terms of close to India (that too, but not only) the cars are so amazingly close to where you stand. It is logical isn’t it? It’s on the regular street! A street that on a normal day, you stand waiting for the light to change so you can run across to grab a bite, or something. Honestly, the only thing keeping you from the cars is ice-cold fear and a flimsy wire-fence! The sound and the blast of air after a car whips past can literally bowl you over!

interesting… Best deals to F1 Singapore 2009

2009 has been a slow year in every way, except on the race track. And is also the year of the biggest Formula 1 event in Singapore. So for all you F1 fans who are planning on being where all the action happens. We have the answer to all your questions and troubles.

I definitely want  my experience in Singapore to be hassle-free so I have been doing my bit of research. There were 3 options for me to choose from, Kuoni, Mercury and Travel Tours.

Now I don’t know about you, but I’m looking for the best deals that include everything. A hassle free holiday, a good view of the race and an accommodation that doesn’t involve some dingy hotel! I mean I want my money’s worth and that’s not too much to ask.

To give you a rather brief summary of the packages offered, Kuoni is offering a package of Rs.47,000  (per person) that only includes your 3 night stay and a WALK ABOUT pass! So this means you dish out so much and then spend some more on your air travel!

As for Mercury Travels, you pay Rs.70,000 (per person) and get your stay for 3 nights, an Esplanade Grandstand ticket and economy class air travel. I thought not bad.

But then I came across Travel Tours. Now this is the clincher. For a package of Rs.52,000 (per person), I’m getting a 3 night stay at a 5 star hotel, I’m getting a Bay Grandstand ticket and air travel on a top end flight! It is pretty obvious don’t you think? Plus you stand to win some exciting prizes. Check out these packages.

I mean do the math. Travel Tours are offering the BEST deals for an F1 fan!! If there’s something you’ve heard of, go on and tell me about it!!

Singapore Grand Prix goes green!

For all you champions of the earth, there is some green at the end of the fuel hose.
The one sport most condemned for its gas-guzzling ways is taking some serious steps to reduce its carbon footprint. And Singapore has been one of the first to implement it.
The use of renewable energy resources like sun, wind, water, geo-thermal, tidal and osmosis is being used to bring down the whopping figure of 500-600 mega watts of power!
Yes, it doesn’t change the number of liters consumed, approximately 75 liters for every 100 kms. If every race track is approximately 300 kms and there are 10 tracks, the math is simple but the number more than just a little disturbing!
But I believe they are revving in the right direction!

its true. . . it really is!

With all this talk about how great the street circuit in Singapore is, I figured it would only be apt to get real testimonials from those who were at last year’s race. Being a part of the first night street race ever, was an experience like none other for these race fanatics.

Watch this space for more testimonials of last year’s night race at Singapore. If you have an experience that you’d like to share, go right ahead and tell us about it!
