The Singapore Grand Prix and so much more!

After all the excitement and anticipation, the Singapore Grand Prix 2009 was finally here. Lewis Hamilton clinched the first position followed by Timo Glock and Fernado Alonso.

What seemed to be an event extraordinaire last year did not seem so much like it this year. But I guess with Formula 1 racing there never can be a dull day. So here are a couple of the latest most shocking events in Formula 1 post the Singapore Grand Prix.

After its sudden triumph over the past few races, Force India seemed to finally run out of its winning streak. Not only did Adrian Sutil not finish, but also got himself fined a reported $20,000.

Now for the most talked about news in the F1 fraternity, Alonso is moving to Ferrari! After his debut in Formula 1 racing in 2001 with Minardi, he went on to become Renault’s official test driver the following season. By 2003 he was in the racer’s seat and went on to be F1’s youngest Grand Prix winner with victory. By the end of 2005 he was F1’s youngest champion.

Woah! All the hard work and the brilliant racing by the Spaniard has definitely paid off.

As for Raikkonen, he is said to be moving to McLaren where he will be racing along with reigning world champion, Lewis Hamilton. Raikkonen is not very thrilled about the change but has said it was a consensual agreement and is leaving with great memories with the team of the prancing horse.

So 2010 is going to see Massa and Alonso as Ferrari’s racers. If you are wondering where that leaves Fisichella, the former Fore India racer, will be Ferrari’s reserve driver. Are you also thinking he should have stayed on with Force India?

It is almost the end of a truly eventful Formula 1 season, and I just cannot wait to see what 2010 has in store for every race fanatic.

Who will it be?

Force India’s, Vijay Mallya says that the team is now ready to use McLaren’s simulator to test Indian racer Karan Chandok for the role of the team’s test driver. But that is not all. Dr. Mallya went on to say that Karan would have to prove his capability.

Dr. Mallya, Force India

The 25 year old from Chennai is currently racing in the GP2 Series and is said to be a strong contender for the role as test driver after Liuzzi’s switch to the race car.

Ex-test driver, Neel Jani is also in the running for Force India’s test driver. With experience of testing for Sauber, Red Bull and Toro Rosso, he might just be too tough a competition.

Since, the test drivers are being chosen for the team’s 2010 line up, I guess there is time and we will have to wait and watch.

For more action in this season, you can be as close to all the action as Force India is to the podium. With package deals to Singapore starting at Rs.46,660, Travel Tours is making sure you can be in Singapore for all the action.

Force India – unexpected and brilliant!

It is as if he was unsure of what the car was really capable of until Fisichella broke Force India’s record of staying behind the pack. Right from the practice sessions at Monza, Adrian Sutil surprised us all with his performance. And to top it all off he went on to finish 4th. Woah!

Sutil did us proud!

Adrian Sutil, Force India

When it was time for Vitantonio Liuzzi to get in the car to replace Fisichella, I had my doubts, but I guess he just proved me and a lot of others wrong! Liuzzi went out on to the tracks and drove like he owned it and all I can say is, wow! What a way to make everything of an opportunity!

Whatever the reason be, it sure is good to see Force India making a mark in F1 racing! All in all, Sutil and Liuzzi are definitely going all out and I guess we are just going to have to wait watch what the 2 racers have in store for India and the world!

Singapore just seems to be getting more exciting with every race. The world’s only night race coupled with the best deals that start at Rs.46,660, Singapore gets so much more enticing!

Lights… camera… Renault!

It is almost time for the Singapore Grand Prix and the latest buzz is around Renault and their stellar performance at Singapore Grand Prix 2008.

Just to refresh your memory, Alonso won the Singapore Grand Prix 2008. Renault celebrated the victory without much attention to fellow racer, Piquet’s crash. Questions of Alonso’s early pit stop and Piquet’s crash being pre-meditated did go around the rumour mill, but nothing nailed the coffin shut.

2009 saw Piquet being sacked from the team and predictably, a few weeks later came his accusations of Renault’s ‘dirty plan’ at the Singapore GP. Piquet went on record to say that Alonso was given way more attention by the team and his manager Briatore was his worst enemy.

Now, the latest gossip in Formula 1 fraternity is that Piquet has officially declared Alonso’s win last year was a set up. His latest allegations include Renault’s strategy of an early pit stop for Alonso and the team asking Piquet to crash so as to give team mate Alonso an added advantage over the rest during the safety lap.

With Renault being called in for a hearing on the matter, the team faces the risk of being disqualified from the rest of the season.

So, is Piquet just playing spoil sport or is Renault really in for it?

I’ve been saying it all this while, and I’m going to say it again, at the world’s only night race, anything can happen. And don’t tell me you don’t want to be a part of all the drama, STAGED or NOT!

Mallya loses Fisichella to Ferrari!

With the announcement of Fisichella’s move to Ferrari, come a lot of mixed emotions. While there are those who say it was totally expected, there are those who believe he should have stayed on with Force India.

However, one who is grabbing a lot of the spotlight is Dr. Vijay Mallya. Now, he claims there was no exchange of money, YA RIGHT! For the businessman he is known to be, Mr Mallya seems to have put no thought into that statement he made. Does he really expect us to believe the fact that he just let Fisichella go?

Anyway, for more on circuit news, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Force India’s test driver is currently the top contender as Fisichella’s replacement. Although, Dr. Mallya has gone on to say that he will be testing a couple of racers for the vacant seat.

With Ferrari saying Fisichella can make a significant contribution this season in terms of points, it is most certain that he is getting all the attention he needs from the team. What a dream come true for the Italian!
Another question that comes to mind amidst all of this talk of patriotism is, how long will it be before we see an Indian in a Force India car?

Also let us not forget, we’re soon going to have to review yet another new recruit’s performance!

Will he or will he not, that is the question?

It is barely the second day after his unexpected podium finish, and Fisichella has a lot of questions coming his way. With Ferrari having to choose from Schumacher and Badoer and now Fisichella, it seems like 2009 has as much action off the track as on the track.

If you ask me, it would be pretty unfair for Fisichella to take this opportunity to make his debut in Ferrari. But then again, it is FERRARI we are talking about. I mean it is every racer’s dream team! But then again, if Fisichella does stay with Force India and brings home more Podium finishes, he definitely will place himself as a brilliant racer!

Dr. Vijay Mallya and Fisichella

Force India - Dr. Vijay Mallya and Fisichella

With Force India’s director of business affairs going on record to say that Force India does not have a choice but to let Fisichella go, I guess only time will tell us what we are in for. We have to keep in mind our very own Dr. Vijay Mallya who is not going to let go without a fight. So, if Fisichella leaves, will Force India ever see the light of a podium finish again?

Also, if you are wondering who is going to step in for Fisichella, the team has already dropped a name. If Fisichella moves, Force India’s test driver Vitantonio Luizzi, is said to step in his seat.

Whoever, said the circuits were where all the action happens, sure did not think of 2009 and all that the season has brought along with it. Is it soon going to be time for another blog on THE NEW RECRUIT? I hope not!

It was a fabulous experience!

When it comes to a travel agency putting together my package, I only want the best deals. The last few blogs have been about the best deals to watch the Formula One race in Singapore. I thought it best to put up a video testimonial of someone who was at the race last year.

The video talks about his experience with Travel Tours and the great job that they did and what a thrilling experience it is to be in Singapore for the f1 season!

So I delivered as promised. I guess it would be best that you watch this space for more action on F1 Singapore 2009.

India on the F1 map

Fisichella

Fisichella

It all began with pole position on Saturday. Little did anyone expect Saturday’s results let alone Sunday’s! With Fisichella winning pole position on Saturday, it was still not obvious that he would deliver on Sunday. But what a race!

The first couple of minutes at Spa were just a preview to the action that was to follow. With Romain Grosjean coming in the way of Button’s race and with Hamilton and Jaime Alguersuari bearing the consequences of the crash, the race was all about the action right from the start.

Force India, for 2 years now had placed itself at the tail end of every standing. As if to say ‘enough is enough’ Fisichella put on a show that is bound to go down in history.

If you ask me, Fisichella had a real chance to stand on the podium. Raikonnen’s comfort with the Belgian circuit and KERS put him at an undeniable advantage. As for Fisichella’s win, Force India proved a lot of people wrong on Sunday and I have a feeling this is just the beginning!

For the Ferrari fans, it was just wonderful to see the red car up ahead for the first time this season.

2009 definitely has been a season of so many things unexpected. I can only imagine what the last couple of races have in store. As always I am still excited about what Singapore is going to unfold!
