What does this mean?

Here we were waiting for Renault’s hearing on Monday. Little did we think there would be so much drama way before the hearing even! The team is not going to be disputing the allegations made by Piquet Jr. But the juiciest bit of it all is the bit on the resignations.

Renault’s managing director, Flavio Briatore and its executive director of engineering, Pat Symonds have reportedly left the team.

After a prolonged denial of the accusations made against the team, by Piquet Jr. and his father, the team released the following press release,

“The ING Renault F1 Team will not dispute the recent allegations made by the FIA concerning the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. It also wishes to state that its managing director, Flavio Briatore and its executive director of engineering, Pat Symonds, have left the team. Before attending the hearing before the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris on 21 September 2009, the team will not make any further comment.”

So was Alonso’s win at Singapore last year really a fluke?

WOW! It is almost time for round 2 of the Singapore Grand Prix and last year’s race is back in the spotlight! I guess it is definitely safe to say that this is another first at the Singapore Grand Prix!

Force India – unexpected and brilliant!

It is as if he was unsure of what the car was really capable of until Fisichella broke Force India’s record of staying behind the pack. Right from the practice sessions at Monza, Adrian Sutil surprised us all with his performance. And to top it all off he went on to finish 4th. Woah!

Sutil did us proud!

When it was time for Vitantonio Liuzzi to get in the car to replace Fisichella, I had my doubts, but I guess he just proved me and a lot of others wrong! Liuzzi went out on to the tracks and drove like he owned it and all I can say is, wow! What a way to make everything of an opportunity!

Whatever the reason be, it sure is good to see Force India making a mark in F1 racing! All in all, Sutil and Liuzzi are definitely going all out and I guess we are just going to have to wait watch what the 2 racers have in store for India and the world!

Singapore just seems to be getting more exciting with every race. The world’s only night race coupled with the best deals that start at Rs.46,660, Singapore gets so much more enticing!

Action packed F1 racing!

There are about 18 days to go for the Singapore Grand Prix. The only Night Race in the world is back and is bringing with a whole lot of action.

Was the Singapore Grand Prix a real challenge last year? What better way than to hear what the drivers had to say.

Lewis Hamilton, ‘A positive end to a difficult weekend at this fantastic new venue. Also, this is not a track where overtaking is easy. The first night race in Formula 1 history was great fun.’

Timo Glock, ‘It was quite tough out there in these conditions and with such a bumpy track the car was not very comfortable to drive; I am sure I will feel the effects tomorrow.’

Sebastian Vettel, ‘ The hardest elements in the race were dealing with the heat and concentrating not to make any mistakes, as it could be very easy to clip a kerb. It was one of the toughest races of the season.’

Robert Kubica, ‘ The race was physically very hard. There are so many bumps, I hope the organisers will work on the surface for next year. On top of that, the visibility was getting worse and worse as I was getting tired.’

Hmmm . . . with the best in the biz finding Singapore rather challenging, can you imagine the treat that is in store for the spectators?

Singapore sure has the makings for a perfect F1 experience. It gives you a Night Race, a Street Race, loads of entertainment and so much more action on the track!

Just before I sign off, I thought it would be best that I quote Force India’s new driver’s take on the Singapore Grand Prix.

Vitantonio Liuzzi, ‘Singapore would have been tougher, because I don’t know the circuit, and everyone complained last year that it was very physical.’

F1 Singapore 2008!

Just to give you a better idea of how BIG the Singapore Grand Prix is, I have put together another interview by someone who was actually there at the first ever Formula One night race! Tilak, an architect based in Bangalore vows that is an experience of a life time and he will not hesitate to go again and again – it’s an unbeatable formula, he says!

1. Why did you decide to go? Why did you choose Singapore?

F1 and holiday with friends what a combo… I chose  to go coz it was the only night race in the world, can u imagine, shutting out the streets of ur city and having a race… wow..

2. Did you use the internet at all for tickets and accomodation?

Yeah…generally about the F1 , the routes, info on how they went about planning the race..general stuff..

3.  Would you like to go to Singapore again to watch the race?

I would love to.. so much fun..

4.  Would you recommend Singapore to everyone? Or would it just be to watch F1 live?

Yes of course! The pulse of that place by itself is amazing for a holiday… coupled with F1, it  couldn’t get better… the whole country revolves around F1 for theses three days… Singapore becomes one big party place… spend a couple of days before and after the race to look around also… in my opinion.. 5-6 days of holiday..brilliant… I’ll give u a better way to explain it to us as Indians… the tension and pulse of watching a cricket match at home on tv, and watching it in the stadium… they are two different things…both can be enjoyable in different ways, but being there is a once in a lifetime experience..must do…

5. 1 heart-stopping moment. (If there are more, please tell us!)

The Renault driver Nelson Piquet Jr, his car crashed in right in  front of us, and then we could see how the car was lifted up taken out… woooooohhh…. we just saw this car coming into our turn and then crash…really heart stopping…

Do you really need any more reasons to be in Singapore this September?
